Humayun’s Tomb is a well-known UNESCO world heritage site that is famed for its beautiful architecture and is also where the tomb of Emporer Humayun is located. Fashioned to be the talk of the town during its time – it was a major source of inspiration for the Taj Mahal. The Qutub Minar, another world heritage site is a raised structure at about 72.5 metres tall, making it the highest stone tower in India and completed covered in holy Quran verse and lovely carvings.
The Lotus Temple is another notable attraction – perhaps one of the most beautiful temples in India, the temple is shaped like its name, a lotus. It has won many accolades around the world for its ingenious structure and form.
There are many other interesting attractions in the city of New Delhi, from the India Gate to the Purana Qila, Laxminarayan Temple, ISKCON temple, Jama Masjis, Indira Gandhi Memorial Museum, Lodhi Park, National Museum and the Sai Baba Temple - place which will give a truly insightful view of the city and its people.
The city also acts as a gateway for those who are headed one of the seven wonders of the world – the Taj Mahal in Agra; only a mere 200 kilometres from the capital. Train, buses or private vehicles area available for the journey to Agra to witness the world-famed landmark of India.
